Ella Wheeler Brewer was the daughter of John and Malissa Bennett Wheeler. She had four brothers, Marion, Elza, Elbert and Fred; and five sisters, Ada O'Neal, Emma Woods, Hazel Risner Schriefels, Mayme Wheeler, and Ava Tarlton.
The children of Safe Brewer and Ella Wheeler were Carl, Hanford, Floyd, Irene Dail, and Earnestine Regan. They graduated from Couch High School. During the World War period many of the young people moved to St. Louis to work in defense projects.
After her husband's death, Ella sold the farm and moved to St. Louis to be near family. She worked at the hospitals and retired from Barnes Hospital in 1959.
She moved to Couch, MO in 1972 with her son Carl and his wife.
