Jim was born June 28, 1940, in Anderson County and was graduated from Clinton High School in 1961.
He was a US Navy veteran serving from 1963 to 1967 on the USS Battleship Fred T. Berry during the Vietnam War.
Following this, he worked many years for his uncle, Raymond Vann, at the Super Test Service Station on the east end of the Oak Ridge Turnpike.
In 1976 he started work at the K-25 Barrier Plant and then moved to the Y-12 Uranium Enrichment Operations.
He retired in 2004 because of health concerns. Jim liked to cook, can, and garden; enjoyed reading science fiction novels, and was a gun enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Queener, and parents-in-law, William Mitchell and Reva Beets Leinart.
Survivors include His loving wife, Billie Leinart Queener; mother, Gertrude Jones Queener; brother, Tom & wife Debbie Queener all of Clinton; brother, Robert & wife Sandra Queener of Knoxville; sister, Patsy & husband Mitchell Lovett of Hazel Park, MI; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Special thanks to sister-in-law, Jessica Queener; niece, Cari Queener; great niece, McKenzie Queener; cousin, Linda Jennings; friends, Elaina Patterson, Brandy and Maggie Rodrigues; and friends from the Sweet Estates Subdivision who helped Jim during his illness.
The family 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, June 8, 2007 at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services following in the chapel with Rev. George Williams officiating.
His burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday at Anderson Memorial Garden with full military honors at graveside. Holley Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
