EMMA LAVONNE JORDAN MURPHY, 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday March 27, 2019 at her home embraced by her loved ones. She was born in Friendswood, Texas on February 23, 1929 and was a lifetime resident of Alvin, Texas. She graduated from Alvin High School on May 29, 1947. Emma married Ray Murphy, the love of her life, on July 12, 1957. They had four daughters that were the center of their world. She was an active member of the Home Extension Club for many years. Emma was a 4-H leader alongside her husband for 25 years. Her passion was gardening, which enabled her to open her own greenhouse to the public allowing her to share that same passion with others.She retired after working many years from Alvin ISD. Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to everyone she met, she will be missed greatly by all.

Emma Murphy was preceded in death by her husband Ray Murphy, father and mother Walter and Lora Jordan, grand-daughter Bridgett Crowell, and son-in-law Bubba Crowell.She is survived by daughters, Barbara Crowell, Nancy and David Collins, Lora and Ty Martin, Cindy and Gary Lambeth, grandchildren Justin Smitley, Cody Baker, Tiffany Forgy, Miranda Merchant, Jamie Antee, Jarrod Baker, Travis Martin, Dustan Murphy, Brett Lambeth, and Megan Crowell, numerous great-grandchildren and many special friends and loved ones.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas, 77546 (281) 992-7200

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at the Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.
