James M. Arnold Jr, 92, Fort Loudon, PA, passed away at his home on Monday March 25, 2019.
Born December 4, 1926 at Rockhill Furnace, PA, he was a son of the late James M. and Mary McCartney Arnold Sr.
James farmed with his father for over 20 years and later worked at Letterkenny Army Depot from 1949 to 1984. He was last employed for 12 years at the former Ames Department Store, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Carrick Valley Methodist Church, Metal, PA, and Orrstown F&AM Lodge #262. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, and baseball. His wife, Thelma J. Carlin Arnold, died January 10, 2013.
Surviving family include two sons, Michael E. (Tammy S.) Arnold, Ft. Loudon, Dennis J. (Sue Wiser) Arnold, Carlisle, PA, five grandchildren, Mike, Jeannie, Matthew, Meagan and Adam. Ten great grandchildren, and a sister, Elizabeth Wright, Shippensburg, PA. James was preceded in death by siblings, Mabel Crouse, Kathryn Shoemaker, Lester Arnold, and Warren Arnold.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday March 30, 2019 at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. Burial will be at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Ft. Loudon.
