Alexander is the son of Nathaniel and Charity Carll Ketcham. He enlisted in the Revolutionary War and served as 1st Lt. New York 3rd Rgt. He signed "The Association" in 1775. 11 July 1775 he was mentioned for 2nd Lt. by Capt. John Grinnel , and served in the 3rd Line. He was with Gen. Woodhull , L.I., 26 Aug 1776.
On Jan 1780 he petitioned Conn. General Assembly for relief from Poll Tax. Ketcham family Bible notation as well as military record show that Alexander was captured and killed by Refugees.
