He was born October 12, 1939, in Louisville, the son of Bruce and Maggie Ellen (Phillips) Tolliver.
James served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting and being outdoors and had worked in construction and also as an insurance salesman. He was a past member of the Flora VFW and Flora American Legion.
He is survived by a son: Bruce (Rhonda) Tolliver of Louisville; step-daughter: Joetta (Ron) Connell of Edgewood; brother: L.E. Gene Tolliver of Flora; sister: Linda Deubert of Oregon; sister-in-law: Dorothy Tolliver of Flora; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: John H Tolliver; a sister-in-law: Connie Tolliver; and nephews: Tyler Tolliver and Greg Britton.
A graveside committal ceremony with the presentation of military funeral honors will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Hoosier Prairie Cemetery.
