James Cash was born March 4, 1818, Pulaski county, Kentucky, and died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Epperly, in Mercer county, Illinois, March 8, 1889, aged seventy-one years and four days.
The above named persons were married in Pulaski county, Kentucky, November 1, 1837, and resided in that county until March 4, 1854, when they emigrated to Illinois and settled in Peoria, and removed to this county in September, 1855, where they have since resided. They were both humble, devoted christians from early life and were loved and respected by all who knew them; being members of the Baptist church.
They leaves two daughters Mrs. Amanda Jane (Mrs. John Spear) of Watsons, New Mexico, who is here now, and Mary Catharine (Mrs. John C. Epperly) of this county. Their only son died in 1881.
The remains of Father Cash were laid by the side of the remains of his departed companion Saturday, March 9, in the Millersburg cemetery.
They have gone to their reward, but they have left an influence with the community that must tell for good. The funeral service was held in the Presbyterian chapel in Millersburg. The writer of this article was called to preach the sermon and used for a text the 13th verse of the 14th chapter of Revelations. There was a large and sorrowful audience in attendance. May God bless the sorrowing ones and bring them safe to the haven of rest their dear ones have joined. - M. D. Murdock.
