Hezekiah Carr Whitmire (W5/3.8), son of Jesse Whitmire (W6/1.3) and Nancy Durden Whit­ire (D6/3.4), was born January 7, 1825 in Mississippi. In 1842 his parents lived in Polk County, Texas. His father died in Jasper County, Texas in 1847. His mother ap­peared in the 1850 census of San Augustine County, Texas. He was married May 4, 1850 to 16-year-old Jerusha Fish (F5/1.4), daugher of Joseph Martin Fish (F6/1.1) and Nancy "Ann" Dyches Fish (D6/1.4), according to Jasper County Marriage Book A-1, page 70. They appeared in the 1850 census of Newton County in an adjacent location to the household of his father-in-law. They were recorded as Household 30-30: "Whitmire, Hezekiah 24, born in Louisiana Jerusha 16, born in Texas" In April 1851 they removed to Williamson County to join her parents who had received a sitio of land, 4,425 acres, there. She received from her father November 3, 1855 a deed to 250 acres located east of his home in the southeast corner of his original land grant, according to Williamson Coun­ty Deed Book 6, page 134. They sold the property March 20, 1857 to Dr. David F. Knight for $300, according to Williamson County Deed Book 7, page 105. They appeared July 27, 1870 in the federal census of Milam County, Texas, page 273, as Household 904: "Whitmire, Hesekiah 48, born in North Carolina [Mississippi] Jerusha 35, born in Texas Luvany 19, born in Texas, daughter Rebecca 16, born in Texas, daughter Elbert 14, born in Texas, son Edey 12, born in Texas, daughter Melonia 10, born in Texas, daughter Mary J. 8, born in Texas, daughter Margaret 2, born in Texas, daughter" Jerusha Fish Whitmire (F5/1.7) died about 1871 and was buried in a cemetery on the Lord Ranch, six miles from Georgetown. On November 11, 1871 he purchased 100 acres on Berry's Creek, part of the Frederick Foy League, from John Thomas Coffee and William C. Dalrymple for $33 and a $67 note, according to Williamson County Deed Book 13, page 370. The land adjoined that of William H. Bowlin (B4/1.4). Hezekiah Carr Whitmire (W5/3.8) was subpoenaed July 12, 1873 to testify before the Williamson County District Court regarding the probate of the will of Joseph Martin Fish (F6/1.1). He appeared as the head of a household in the 1880 census of Williamson County as the head of a household composed of: "Whitmire, Hezekiah 55, born in Mississippi, father born in South Carolina, mother born in Georgia, widower Mary Jane 17, born in Texas, father born in Mississippi, mother born in Georgia, daughter Margaret 11, born in Texas, father born in Mississippi, mother born in Georgia, daughter Pounds, Melonia 19, daughter, widow" Hezekiah Carr Whitmire (W5/3.8) was remarried November 19, 1885 to Mrs. Hester Kirk Collins (K5/1.1), according to Williamson County Marriage Book 6, page 77. She was 18, and he was 60. The marriage was performed by his cousin John Irvin Dyches (D5/­2.2), minister of the First Christian Church, according to Billy Don Whitmire (W3/­14.3), grandson of Odessa, Texas. He reappeared in the 1900 census of Williamson County, Enumeration District 2, page 26, precinct 1 as the head of a household: "Whitmire, H. 75, born January 1825 in Mississippi Hester 32, born February 1868 in Texas, wife Allie 14, born September 1885 in Texas, daughter Ivie 12, born April 1888 in Texas, daughter Annie 10, born May 1890 in Texas, daughter Weaver 6, born March 1894 in Texas, son Jessie 4, born September 1895 in Texas, son Cornelius 1, born November 1898 in Texas, son" He died February 5, 1905 in Milam County and was buried beside his first wife on Lord Ranch.
