Obit: Mr. Andreas Haase
On Friday morning at 9 o’clock, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Robert Krüger in Thiensville, Mr. Andreas Haase, a long-time and well-known citizen of Kiel, died at the high age of 87 years, 9 months and 10 days following a lengthy illness.
The deceased was born on October 7, 1820 in Osnabruck, Hannover, Germany. About 60 years ago he and his wife came to America. Their only child died at sea, during the voyage. Mr. Haase settled in Chicago, where his wife died. From there he eventually moved to Franklin and there he married Maria Pargel. Three children were born to the couple, of which two have died. From Franklin he moved to Kiel, where he lived for 40 years, and owned a cheese factory. The past eight years he has lived with his daughter in Thiensville where he died. For about the last 12 years he has been supported by the village.
He is survived by his daughter, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His body was transported to Kiel and on Sunday afternoon he was laid to rest at the cemetery with Pastor Rech officiating.
