Richard was the son of William Edwin (Will) and Margaret Jane (Maggie) McCormick. His grandparents were Richard D and Emma Lawerence Bollard, buried in Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas. Michael and Honora Kearns McCormick were his other grandparents. Richard married Frances Ruth (Fannie) Collins, daughter of Michael Joseph and Anna/Annie Cain Collins, in Pocahontas on 21 July 1924. They had nine children: Richard Donald, Harold Lawrence (Harry), Thomas Francis, Lawrence Joseph (Hank) (buried in this cemetery), Catherine Frances (Katy), Nancy Ann, Carol Jean, Rosemarie and John Daniel.
