Mrs. Roberts was born on September 17, 1934, in Elizabeth, LA and passed away on November 2, 2018, in Leesville, LA at the age of 84. She worked for many years in the Preventative Medicine Department at Fort Polk. While working there, Mrs. Roberts worked as a health inspector and as an AIDS counselor. In addition to this, she also worked for NASA as a key punch operator. Mrs. Roberts enjoyed playing tennis when she was younger, and she could often be found outside playing basketball or baseball with her grandchildren. Later in life, she enjoyed watching tennis or Braves baseball on TV. One of her greatest talents was playing the piano and organ. As a pastor’s wife, she used this talent to bless others and taught her granddaughter to play as well. Mrs. Roberts supported her husband in his ministry and served as the youth director and the Korean Baptist Church while he was pastoring there. Most of all, she loved her family very much. They have fond memories of her cooking, and she would create new recipes for them to try. Her great grandchildren were the light of her life, and their laughter and the noise they made brought her joy.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Hollis Roberts, parents Allen and Rachel Durbin, sister Wilma K. Young, and brothers Rodney and Calvin Durbin.
Left to cherish their memories of her are her son Steven Roberts and wife Leah of Iowa, LA
grandchildren: Justin Roberts and wife Katie of Leesville, LA; Melinda Johnson and husband Richard of Sulphur, LA; Eve Duhon of Rosepine, LA; and Robert Duhon and wife Aimee of Lake Charles, LA
great grandchildren: Ava Roberts, Jaxson Roberts, Jeremiah Johnson, Annabelle Fisher, Amelia Duhon, and Elijah Duhon
brother: Glen Durbin of Ville Platte, LA
sister: Jaenel Queener of Hernando, MS
and a host of extended family.
