Norbert J. Barhorst, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019. He was a Veteran of the US Navy having proudly served in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Miami Township (Montgomery County), Ohio. He is survived by wife of 69 years, Anna M. (Werling) Barhorst, children Lynne Barst of Dayton, OH, Joseph Barhorst of Middletown, OH, Marilyn (Mike) Kerr of Springboro, OH, Betse (Doug) O'Keefe of Waynesville, OH, Ann Barhorst of Miamisburg, OH, and Teri (Scott) Inskeep of Kettering, OH. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Barhorst in 1977. Also surviving are his grandchildren Angie (Bryan) Mahoney, Steve (Emily) Kerr, Rachel (Kevin) Namaky, Paul (Brandi) Ruivivar, Danielle (Roman) Shostak, Madelyn Barhorst, and Nathan Culp; Great-Grandchildren Matthew, Anna Kate, Daniel, and Andrew (AJ) Mahoney, Brendan, Austin, and Ethan Kerr, Alexa and Landon Ruivivar, Carson and Nolan Namaky; as well a brother Richard "Dick" (Kathleen) Barhorst, and sisters Patricia Reynolds and Ruth "Dutch" Hopkins, sisters-in-law Rose Mary Barhorst, Paulette Barhorst, and Corliss "Corky" Barhorst. He was also preceded in death by his parents Bernard & Edith (Marshall) Barhorst, and four brothers; Robert (his twin brother), Ralph "Jack", Jim, and Tom, and an infant sister, Rose Barhorst.
He was retired from NCR after 40+ years. He also opened and operated Mr. B's Pop Shop at the Greene County Parachute Center in Xenia, Ohio during the 1970's, worked part-time for Dayton Door Trimming, and as an independent house painter. He was a hard-working man. His hobbies included refinishing furniture, baking, artistic painting, sewing, and crafting, and he could fix just about anything.

A Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, both will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton, Ohio, 45449. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to join us for a luncheon following all services at the St. Henry Parish Activity Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Honor Flight, Dayton, Ohio.
