Paul Edward Bachle, of Daykin, Nebraska passed away on his 69th birthday on March 12, 2019. He passed away at home with his family by his side after a tough battle with cancer.

He was born on March 12, 1950, in Fairbury, Nebraska to Virgil and Mildred (Wands) Bachle. He was the first graduating class from Meridian High School in 1968. He then attended Fairbury Junior College finishing in the top of his class, earning him a Regents scholarship to University of Nebraska where he graduated in 1972 with a bachelor's degree.

Paul was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Shari Marschman on August 11, 1973. They were blessed with four daughters—Holly, Amy, Kelly and Stacey.

Paul began his teaching and coaching career at Davenport, Nebraska in 1972. He taught math and was the head wrestling coach, and assisted with football and track for two years. He continued his career at Wood River, Nebraska as the head boys' basketball coach and also assisted with football and track. He also served as the assistant coach for the Meridian boys' basketball team from 1989-1992 when the Meridian boys made their first state tournament appearance.

He began his work as crop insurance adjuster in the summer from 1977-1984. In August of 1984 he began working full time as a claims representative with Union Insurance in Lincoln, then as a claims field rep over Southeast Nebraska for American Agrisurance and mostly recently NAU Country.

In his free time, he spent lots of hours coaching his daughters in all sports, then later his grandkids. He was especially proud that all four daughters held a track school record at Meridian and were state qualifiers. As soon as his girls were done competing in track, he became owner of some thoroughbred horses and enjoyed following them from track to track throughout the racing season.

Paul always had a lot of pride for his small community and school. He served on the town board for 25 years and was mayor for 20 years. In 1992, he organized and directed the Meridian track meet and the Meridian alumni banquet as he enjoyed bringing alumni together on an annual basis.

Paul was preceded in death by parents Mildred and Virgil Bachle, sister Mary Graham, brother James Bachle, father and mother-in-law Melvin and Delores (Polage) Marschman and granddaughter Shaelyn Brandt. He will forever be remembered by his wife Shari Bachle, daughters Holly (Todd) Adam of Crete, Amy (Cory) Rains of Dorchester, Kelly (Brian) Rut of Tobias and Stacey (Andrew) Brandt of Clatonia, brother Robert (Marilyn) Bachle of Fairbury, brother-in-law Gary (Janice) Marschman of Seward and 14 grandchildren – Logan, Ashlyn, Jordyn & Camryn Adam; Carly, Chloe & Brody Rains; Brayden, Braxtyn & Breckyn Rut; Addison, Stryder, Axtyn & Saylor Brandt.
