PORT BYRON, Ill. - Services for Russell L. Lipes, 78, of 2507 214th St. N., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Lipes died Sunday at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
He worked 21 years at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1971 as a welder.
He married Kathryn E. Shaner in 1934 in Peoria. She died in 1984.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Silvis United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his sons, Lindel, Ozark, Mo.; and Lawrence, Geneseo; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Arthur, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Ila Algren, Galesburg; Gladys Stegall, Burlington, Iowa; June Danner, Galesburg; and Anne Hughes, Anaheim, Calif.; and brothers, Vernon, Rock Island; Bill, East Moline; David and Eddie, both of Milan.
