Mrs. MADALINE PHYLLIS "MADDIE" MORRIS (NEWELL) EDWARDS is the daughter of James Joshua Morris and Mrs. Zerilda Townsend Morris.

FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. M. EDWARDS ON WEDNESDAY
"Funeral services for Mrs. Maddie Edwards were held Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock. Mrs. Edwards died suddenly in Dallas. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, F.O. Edwards, of Dallas; the following sons: Newell, of Ohio, and George Hilliard 'G.H.' Newell, Alva Roy Newell and Wesley Newell, all of Dallas; two daughters: Mrs. Irene Davis, of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Myrtle Colquitt, of Saint Louis, Missouri; four sisters: Mrs. Lula Taylor, of Palestine, Mrs. Hallie Bays, Mrs. Birdie James and Mrs. Katie Blackburn, all of Marshall; two brothers, Ivan Morris, of Marshall, and L.T. Morris, of Shreveport, Louisiana; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Edwards was born in Mississippi on March 29, 1869. She had lived in Dallas most of her life. She was a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Ed C. Smith Funeral Home. Rev. Williams, pastor of the Methodist church, Dallas, assisted by the Rev. J.E. McGaughy, of the Summitt Street Methodist Church, officiated."
