Maria Cruz Madrigal entered into the arms of our Lord on November 19, 2018 at the age of 73. Born May 3, 1945 in Yahualica, Jalisco, Mexico to Tomas and Petra Ledesma, she was the third youngest of fifteen children. The family immigrated to the United States in 1948, making Detroit, Michigan their home. She was raised to embrace the core values of hard work, faith, and family.
She earned her cosmetology degree, and perfected her craft working at a beauty salon in downtown Detroit, where she styled the coifs of many women, including Motown legend Diana Ross. She was known for her attention to detail and perfectionism-a trait that followed her all the years of her life.
Maria fell head over heels in love with the love of her life in 1965 and married him on June 28, 1969. She and Erlin Madrigal had three children-Dorian in 1973, Adriel in 1976, and Shalimar in 1979 before moving to McAllen in 1981, officially become proud Texans.
She lived as she loved: passionately, completely, selflessly. She loved God, her husband, her kids, and her family. We are grateful for the 73 years we got to share with her, for the lessons she taught us and the memories she left us. We invite friends and family to celebrate her life with us this Friday, November 23rd from 3 - 8 pm at Funeraria Del Angel in McAllen with a Motown music tribute from 5-6 pm Christian praise from 6-7 pm, and Rosary from 7-8 pm. Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in McAllen on Saturday, November 24th at 11:30 am followed by Entombment at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen at 12:45 pm.
