Marian was the daughter of Ernest August Schulz and Anna (Williams) Schulz Polcyn. Marian's father passed away 4 months after her birth and her mother remarried to Walter Polcyn (b. 3/9/1900 OH-7/12/1989 Chicago, Ill) in 1923 in Clinton, IA. Marian married Robert Porter Dews on Aug. 15, 1938 and had two children with him. Their first born was Robert Walter Dews b. March 1939 and then a daughter Patricia b. June 12, 1947. Some time after 1947 Marian divorced Robert and at some point married a Hiers.
Marian had one brother Carl Bernard and one half sibling Margaret Elaine Polcyn.
Her husband Robert played and traveled with minor league baseball teams for many years and her son Robert Walter followed in his father's footsteps playing minor league baseball and coached for the Atlanta Braves from 1974 until his retirement.
