Mary married Jesse Anderson. They had two sons: Chester and Lester Chauncey/Chancey Jacobs. Lester's birth certificate shows that he was her third child, two of whom were living.
It appears that her mother, Anna, deserted the family when the children were young. The father of these children was then sent to prison for two years for a crime (arson) that perhaps he did not commit (his brother, when on his deathbed, confessed to the crime). At that time, the children were placed in an institution.
Note that her marriage license to Jesse shows that she was born in 1892, her d/c shows 1896 and the 1900 census shows 1894.
