Joan Lee Spivey was born August 25, 1953 in Jackson County and departed this life Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Hospice of Lakes Cumberland in Somerset being 65 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Bruce Gabbard and Delma Abner Gabbard Murphy.
Joan is survived by two children, Bobby Jones of Richmond and Holly Jones of Berea. She is also survived by two brothers, Famous Murphy and wife Debra of Sand Gap and Glenn Murphy of Berea and by five sisters, Joyce Harrison of McKee, Sue Ballard and husband William of Winchester, Faye Flannery, Patty Jean King and husband Buck and Marie Isaacs all of Sand Gap. Joan was blessed with eight grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joan was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Gabbard.
Funeral service 2:00 PM Monday, March 11, 2019 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Horn and Bro. Travis Shinevarre officiating. Burial to follow in the Chestnut Flat Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bobby Jones, Matt Gabbard, Austin King, Michael Gabbard, Darrell Chasteen, Josh & Jamie Harrison
