She was born in Surry County on Sept. 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Elzavan Simmons and Sophronia Jessup Simmons.
Mrs. Adams was a lifetime member of Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Mrs. Adams will always be remembered for her warm smile, being a wonderful homemaker, and the love of her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston Isom Adams; her son and daughter-in-law, Van and Hilda Adams; two sisters: Ethelene Wilson and Eunice Cook; and a brother, Hubert Simmons.
Mrs. Adams is survived by a daughter, Pandola Bunn, and husband, Ronnie, of Pilot Mountain; two sons: Dennis Adams, and wife, Becky, of Pilot Mountain and Clay Adams and wife, Shelby, of Pilot Mountain; eight grandchildren: Ronnie Adams, Melody Schneggenberger, Mark Adams, Tara Brinkley, Chastity Surratt, Nicole Phillips, Misty Burnett and Chris Bunn; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Rommie Simmons and Glenn Simmons, both of Pilot Mountain.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain with Bro. Jimmy Joyce, the Rev. Barry Clement, and Bro. Rodney Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Simmons Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: Evalina Taylor, caretaker of the Simmons Family Cemetery, 157 Jessup Grove Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
The family would like to thank the staff of Central Continuing Care and the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all the love and care that was shown in Mrs. Adams' time of need.
