N. P. Sloan Buried at Morningside Cemetery

Monday afternoon, April 11 funeral services were conducted for Norman P. Sloan at the Presbyterian Church. The Reverends L. L. Tait, Clifford S. Joshua, and Minnie Wertz officiated. Burial was made in Morningside Cemetery.

Norman P. Sloan was born in Emlenton, Pa. of April 3, 1871 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Uriah Sloan. On July 3, 1900 he was united in marriage with Sara Galbraith of Ridgway. The wedding was performed at that place.

They made their home in Emlenton, Ridgway, Clarion and Johnsonburg before coming to Brockway thirty-five years ago. For a period he was proprietor of Sloan’s Restaurant and on June 15, 1925 became an employee at the Brockway Glass Company, Inc., No. 1 plant. On February 23 he submitted to major operation from which he never fully recovered, he was brought home on Ninth Avenue for a period later hospitalized again.

Mr. Sloan was a quiet home person who was highly respected by his fellowmen. His life was one of devotion to his family and the example he set in facing difficulties with a strong determination to carry on will be long remembered by those near and dear to him.

He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters Logan G. of Bartow, Fla. Lyle E. of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. D. R. Kelley Harry, and Joseph of this place.

Eight grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters survive, Lon of California, Frank of Buffalo, N. Y., Lester Harriet and Dale of Emlenton, Pa.

The pallbearers were J. H. Steele, Emil Lindholm, Alvin Snyder, Jack Poyer, William Gillung of the place and Bud Brady of Ridgway.

Among those here for the funeral were: Charles Galbraith, Miss Margaret Golden, Bud Brady of Ridgway, Miss Harriet Sloan, Dale Sloan, Miss Jennie Gilgrist of Emelton, Pa.
