OSSEO — Ester L. Vold, 83, of Osseo died Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

Ester was born February 28, 1924, in Garden Valley, Jackson County, Wis., to James and Nellie (Hakes) Bunderson. She graduated from Fairchild High School in 1943. Ester married Lester Vold on September 30, 1944, at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church in Northfield, and they spent 62 wonderful years together.

Ester was known to all as a generous, creative spirit. She made a life lavishing food and attention on visitors, celebrating differences among people, encouraging tolerance in her community, and always championing the underdog. She befriended all living beings, nurturing birds and animals and children with boundless love. The gift of her life, with all of her strength, faith, and wonder was also shared through countless hours visiting the residents at Osseo Nursing Home.

Ester and Lester lived on the same Osseo farm for 59 years. Along with Gladys and John Vold, they owned and operated Vold's Implement (Incorporated) in Osseo for 38 years.

Ester is survived by her husband, Lester; her children, Steven (Judy) Vold and Mona (Kerry) Vold Jacobson of Osseo; three grandsons, Scott (Kelly) Vold, Trevor (Amy) Vold and Aaron (Lynn) Vold; four great-grandsons, Matthew, Drew, Ian and Carter; one great-granddaughter, Hayden; and one brother, Curtis (Roberta) Bunderson, of Janesville. She also had three step-grandchildren, Robert Zingale, Cindy Zingale and Laurie (Bob) Gruba; and four step-great-grandchildren, Justin Heath, Haylie Pederson, Nicolas Lauterbach and Kiera Gruba.

Ester was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie Bunderson; one grandson, Stephen Luke Vold; a step-grandson, Duane Lauterbach; three sisters, Amy Johnson, Rosie Olson and Mildred Haskins; and five brothers, Edwin, Francis, Leonard, Victor and Norman.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Osseo Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo, and one hour before services at the church on Thursday.
