Surviving are her children, Jean Keith of Hiawatha, James (Joan) Taylor of Cedar Rapids., Tom Taylor of Cloudcroft, N.M. 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merwen and 10 siblings.
Iris was born the daugther of Joseph and Lucina (William) Butts on Sept 9, 1910 in Decatur, Neb. She graduated from Lamoni High School and the University of Iowa. Iris taught math for 22 years and retired from Vernon Junior High in Marion in 1976. On May 23, 1937 at Perry, IA, she married Merwen L. Taylor. He died March 17, 1989.
She was a member of the Nation Education Association, Phi Bets Kappa and Tri-T and was active in her church, Community of Christ. She served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids 4000 hours.
