"WILLIAM "BILL" HARDY HARDING SR., 88, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. He was born in Longview, Texas, on January 19, 1921, to Hardy and Irene Wood Leath. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and he was a Baptist. He was employed in mining and operated a refinery. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Rachel C. Harding, of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; two sons, William Harding, Jr., of Texarkana, and Michael Joseph Harding, of Las Cruses, N.M.; six daughters, Rebecca Lynette Johnston, Donna June Smith, and Jeanne Irene Smith, all of Hope, Bonnie Kay Hinton, of Mena, and Rachel Renee Harding and Stephanie Ann Harding, both of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; one sister, Elsie Leath, of New Mexico; 11 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Memorial services were conducted Saturday, September 5, 2009, in the chapel of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home, in Hope, with Rev. Neal Ridling officiating. The family received on friends Friday, September 4, 2009, at the funeral home. Arrangements were by The Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home, in Hope, Arkansas."
