MRS. CONNEY DEAD AT 68; FUNERAL SET

Funeral services for Mrs. Belle B. Conney, 68, of Milwaukee, a former resident of Fond du Lac who died Tuesday of an apparent heart attack, were held at 2 p.m. today at Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home, Whitefish Bay.

Mrs. Conney was born in Neenah and later moved to Milwaukee where she was married to the late Nathan A. Conney in 1925.

Her husband was employed as an advertising salesman by the Wisconsin News for a time, and in 1935 the family moved to Ripon where Mr. Conney took over the family business, Conney’s Store, a department store.

Mrs. Conney joined her husband in a business partnership and they founded Conney Products Co., an industrial clothing business, in 1946.

The family store was sold in 1950 and the products company was moved to Fond du Lac.

After the death of Mr. Conney in 1958, the company became known as Conney Products Co. Inc., and under Mrs. Conney’s leadership, the firm expanded into industrial safety equipment and industrial first aid supplies.

The firm moved to Madison in 1964 and Mrs. Conney retired moving back to Milwaukee. Her son, Marvin L. took over as president of the company.

She was a worthy matron of the Ripon Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Besides her son, she is survived by one daughter, three sisters and two brothers.
