He was born on October 4, 1935 in Pulaski County, MO to the late William Patton and Myrtle (Light) Patton. Chester and Helen (Stogsdill) Patton were married on April 27, 1956 at Mount Olive Baptist Church. They have been married for 62 years.
Chester loved fishing and there was nothing better than a day on the lake fishing for crappie and bass! He enjoyed his work and was a well-respected contractor of Patton Construction. His son, Steve, worked beside him for many years. In his 40 year career, he built over 100 homes. He did numerous commercial jobs in the area as well.
Chester accepted Jesus as his Savior in 2004. His son, Terry, baptized him. He attended First Baptist Church of Rolla.
In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Ellie Schweiss; six brothers, William Patton, Edward Patton, Andy Patton, Frank Patton, Floyd Moreland and Clyde Moreland; and three sisters, Faye Reiser, Edna Benton and Lucille Brown.
Chester will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: his wife, Helen Patton of Rolla; one daughter, Connie Schweiss and husband Rick of Rolla; two sons, Steve Patton and Terry Patton and wife Erin, all of Rolla; five grandchildren, Jeremy Schweiss and wife Katy, Sara Friend and husband Dustin, Jesamy Jeffcoach and husband Timothy, Isaac Patton and Lizzy Patton; and five great grandchildren, Dayton Friend, Dawson Friend, Lucy Jeffcoach, Lainey Schweiss and Henry Schweiss.
A funeral service for Chester Patton will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla.
Interment will follow in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
