Alesto W. Wass, for many years a resident of this town, passed away Friday of last week at his home, 6 Middle st., in the sixty-fourth year of his age. He had been in poor health for the past twenty years. The cause of his death was gangrene of the foot with other complications.
The deceased was born in Addison, Maine, coming to this town when about ten years old. For several years he conducted a tobacco store, previous to which he had engaged in the harness business on Main st. He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Carrie F. Wass of this town. Mr. Wass was a member of Mount Roulstone lodge, I. O. O. F., of Fitchburg.Funeral services were held at the late home, Monday at 2 p. m. Rev. Arthur Stanley Beale, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiating. The interment was made in the family lot at Lindenwood cemetery.Messrs. Rowland H. Robbins, Charles A. Stone, Samuel C. Batchelder and Geo. A. Packard were bearers. There was a profusion of floral offerings testifying to the high esteem to which the deceased was held.--Published in the Stoneham Independent, November 14, 1914.
