Alice Winona Worley Barron was born on February 17, 1927 in Altoga, TX to John and Mary Elizabeth Reed Worley. She was the youngest of nine children. Alice left school at a young age to stay home and help her family in the fields. At the young age of 16, Alice left home and headed to the big city of Dallas, where she went to school to be a hair stylist, which was her child hood dream. Once she got her license, she went to work at Hen-ri Salon.
Alice married her first husband Leroy Boles in 1947 and they had 4 children. She married her second husband Paul Barron in 1966. Alice continued doing hair; she met Mrs. Cummings who owned a salon. Mrs. Cummings was thinking of selling her salon and she had the opportunity to purchase the business that made her dreams come true. Alice owned the Tillman Street salon for several years, when she decided to retire she sold the salon.
Alice was a devote Christian and she was very involved in her church, she would cook meals for church gatherings, for people who were sick, she would give rides to church, she also enjoyed being a chaperone on trips for the youth.
When she and Paul retired, they moved to Waco, TX to enjoy their retirement.
Alice was proceeded in death by her parents, siblings, her spouse Paul and her son Robert. She is survived by her daughters Beverly and spouse Chester Dozier from Jarrell, TX, Linda and her spouse Mark Merritt from Cookson, OK, and Cathy and spouse Tim Jarvis from Lorena, TX. She had 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.
She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
