Mary Leopold Pondexter, sixty-two years of age, passed away on June 1, 2007.

She was the firstborn child of Roosevelt Leopold Sr and Mattie Bluford Leopold. She was born and raised on the family farm in a small community known as the Bonne Idee.

She was educated in the public school system of Morehouse parish, graduating from Union High School in 1963. She graduated from Southern University in 1967.

She married the late Charles Edward Pondexter Sr of Farmerville and from this union two sons were born. In 1967, they moved to Baltimore.

In 1973, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She served as a regular and and auxiliary pioneer.

She is survived by her father, Roosevelt Leopold Sr; her two sons, Charles Edward Pondexter Jr (LaRhonda) and Bryant Keith Pondexter; five sisters, Ada (Ricky) George, Evon Buchanan, Golden (George) Dade, Rosie Sander, and Shirley (Antone) Beeks; two brothers, Roosevelt (Mildred) Leopold Jr and Marshall (Wyletta)Leopold; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Bluford Leopold; her husband, Charles Pondexter Sr; and a niece, Artrician Michelle George.
