Oxford- Ernest C. Chickering 74, of George St., died yesterday at his home after a long illness. Born in Rutland he had resided in Oxford for 42 years.

He was a member of the Oxford Methodist Church and was employed at the Chaffee Brothers Company for 45 years until his retirement seven years ago.

He leaves his wife, Mrs Melina (Edwards) Chickering; a son, Elmer E Chickering, both of this town; a daugher, Maude, wife of Augustin Arsenault of Webster; five brothers, William of Damariscotta Mills, Maine, Clarence of Bristol Mills Maine, Edward of Manchester NH and Kenneth of Dudley; three sisters, Mrs Edna Chickering Stevens of Worcester, Mrs Edith Weeks of Bristol Mills, Maine nad Mrs Minnie Steele of Freeport Msine, severn grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2pm Tuedsay in Oxford Methodist Church. The Rev Oscar G. Cook will officiate. Burial will be in North Cemetery.
