Widow: Keziah (Shaw) Clemings, born 1829, married Sept. 12, 1847, Zanesville, Ohio. Died Sept. 21, 1907, as Keziah Speaks, having married Richard J. Speaks Sept. 26, 1883, in Muskingum County, Ohio. Death record identifies her father as James Shaw and mother as Susan Hull.

Another child of T.E. and Keziah Clemings from 1860 census (in addition to those listed below) is Melissa, born c1852.

T.E.'s father was most likely Alfred Clemings (#137691166), born c1797, who married Matilda Payne, Jan. 2, 1820, in Loudoun Co. Va. Alfred's children in the 1850 census for Hopewell Township, Licking County, Ohio, were listed as George (likely #18205005), 20; Nancy, 17; Francis (likely #34247604), 16; William (likely #75124842), 13; Harriet, 11; Alfred, 10; Alee, 8; and Clarisa, 6. All but Alee and Clarisa were born in Va.

In addition to T.E., two other men are likely sons of Alfred. They are Craven Jackson Clemings, born in 1826 in Va., and James Louis Clemings (#105760949), born in 1820 in Va. There is no evidence so far of Craven in Ohio, although he probably lived there if he is related; he lived most of his adult life in Miami, Saline County, Missouri, where he is buried in Miami Cemetery. James's widow is Rosanah Barclay Clemings (#54373777). In 1873, James witnessed Alfred's pension application for the War of 1812 but there is nothing in it to confirm their relationship.
