Funeral services for J. Gayle Blackwell, Sr., 75, a resident of 225 Louisiana Avenue, will be held at 2 p. m. Monday from the Wright & Ferguson Chapel with the Rev. Ben B. Gerald and the Rev. H. O. Carmichael officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Blackwell, died early Saturday morning at Inglewood Manor after an extended illness.
Blackwell was a native' of Monticello, and a resident of Jackson for 22 years. He was a member of Faith Methodist Protestant Church.
His survivors include his wife the former Lillie G. Smithart of Monticello,; five sons, Joseph G. Blackwell, Jr., Grover C Blackwell and Floyd M. Blackwell, all of Memphis, and Rayford Blackwell and Earl H. Blackwell, both of Jackson; one daughter, Mrs. Merlin (Ann) Hoffman of Newbury Park, Calif.; two brothers, Alfred S. Blackwell of Fernwood, and Mack M. Blackwell of Monticello: one sister, Mrs. J. D. Wilson of Monticello; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
