Martha is a daughter of John Riggs and Dorthea Nielsen. She married George Stephen Hughes on December 23, 1896 in Millville, Utah. They became parents to nine children. He died in 1912 three months before the last child was born. She then married George W. Capps. They lived in southern California until her death.
