Sanford Purnell Corbell, 87, of Kitty Hawk, NC died on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Peak Resources – Outer Banks. A native of Dare County, NC, he was the son of the late Theron Sanford Corbell and Aleta Baum Corbell. Sanford served his country honorably retiring from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He then spent his life as a commercial fisherman, and was a member of Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church.

Sanford is survived by his wife, Esther Emery Corbell; two daughters, Deborah C. Stafford of Kitty Hawk, NC and Peggy C. Langley of Nags Head, NC; four grandchildren, Michelle Stafford of Sussex, WI, Chad Stafford of Lockport, IL, Jennifer Langley of Southern Shores, NC and Justin Langley of Kitty Hawk, NC; and three great-grandchildren, Danielle Stamm of Tempe, AZ, Spencer Draggoo, Sussex, WI and Finley Langley of Southern Shores, NC. He is also survived by three sisters, Ada Scarborough of Duck, NC, Joan Corbell of Duck, NC and Jane Gunn of Kitty Hawk, NC; and several nieces and nephews from Dare County, NC, Washington State and South Carolina. Along with his parents, Sanford was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hatchell.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk, NC with Rev. John Tyson officiating.
