Virgil Lee "Virge" Eckles was the son of John Benjamin Eckles and Elizabeth Gertrude Doxey.

Virge spent many years living in Plainview, Hale County, Texas before moving to Amarillo. It was said at his death, he had died and was not found until about 15 days later. He was loved by many family and friends and appeared in dozens of family pictures. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, bird dogs, and being in the woods. He was very close with his siblings all his life.

The Social Security Death Index and the Texas Death Index both have his given name spelled as Virjel. I do not know who the informant was on his death certificate so as to make a determination on spelling from that. The 1910 Census has his given name spelled Virgil. All my family pictures have his given name spelled Virgil and his nickname was Virge.
