U.S. Veteran Bobby R. Williams, age 77, of Newport, passed away on December 27, 2014, at the Johnson City Medical Center, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served from July 6, 1956 until August 1, 1976 and retired after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Estelle Williams; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Hobart Jackson. He is survived by his children, Ricky Williams, Cindy (Larry) Pace and Tina Williams; former wife, Mary Jane Williams all of Newport; grandchildren, Danielle Williams of Newport, and Travis Pace of Chapel Hill, NC; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Austin, Aymin, and Andrew Williams, all of Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Dorothy Williams of Newport, Marshall and Marie Williams of Lorain, Ohio; also several, nieces, nephews, and many special friends. The family would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the caregivers at Lakebridge Health Care Center, where he was known for his friendly smile. Mr. Williams requested that his body be donated to the East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine/Anatomical Gift Program, in hopes that it would help and benefit others. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Disabled Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250-0301, or a charity of your choice. A military memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, January 2, 2015 in Union Cemetery, with Chaplin Dwight MacPherson, with full military honors.
