"Mr. Bechtel settled near the site of Pottstown, where he bought a farm. Some years afterwards, upon the death of his father, he returned to Germany in order to obtain his share of the paternal estate, & died on his return voyage, while the vessel was along the coast of one of the Carolinas. His widow, whose name was Anna Mary Clingman [Klingman], remained on the farm & reared their 2 children, George & Catherine, the latter of whom wedded Samuel Landis [Sands]."
