LEWIS WHOBREY
Lewis Allen Whobrey, 65, of Benton Road, died at 5:14 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Mr. Whobrey was born in Hammond, Ill., on Jan 10, 1913, the son of George W. and Bertha (Lewis) Whobrey. He was married to Margaret C. T in Centralia in January, 1935. She died in 1967.
A graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School, Mr. Whobrey was a member of the varsity football team. Mr. Whobrey was a Protestant. He was a retired employee of the Mt. Vernon Furnace Company.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Myers-Baril Chapel, with the burial in West Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 5:30 p.m. today.
Mr. Whobrey is survived by one son, Richard L. Whobrey, Bedford, Texas; a step-son, William E. Hayes, Simi, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Inez) Warren, Mrs. Donald (Mary) Grant and Mrs. Grover (Mabel) Cooke, all of Mt. Vernon; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Lawrence.
