Private, Company I, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, enlisted in Paducah, KY on 6 Jan 1865. He was AWOL on 27 Jun 1865 but returned in time to be discharged with the regiment when it disbanded at Nashville, TN on 9 Aug 1865. He applied for an invalid pension in 1890. His widow, Elvira Murphy, applied for a pension in 1900 while living in Arkansas.
