Henry “Larry” Lawrence Knoll, 90, of Dixon, IL, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at her home in Dixon. After serving in the United States Army during World War II with the 101st Airborne, 514th Engineer – Philippine Scouts, 76th Engineers. When he returned home Larry starting working with WG Leffelman in Amboy and finished his career as a Forman with Northwestern Steel Mill in Sterling retiring in 1984.

Larry was born October 3, 1928, at his home in Harmon, IL, the son of Theo F. and Helen (Roark) Knoll. He married Nadine Haefner on August 23, 1952 in Amboy. Larry and Nadine belonged to many organizations throughout their years together some of them being the model T International Club and the Rockford Model T Club. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Military order of the Cootie. Larry was the last surviving veteran to redo a Cootie Car and take it in parades.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nadine Knoll of Dixon; one daughter, Jerilee Knoll of Dixon; one brother Jim (Adrlene) Knoll of CO; one sister, Jane Fenwick of Dixon; and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother in law, Ray Fenwick.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon with Father Keith Romke, officiating. Burial will follow the mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Amboy with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Kreider in Dixon.
