Eight years later on Apr 4, 1878 in Otis, Berkshire, Massachusetts, Ellen married her first husband's (Charles Sheldon Phelon) uncle, Benjamin Franklin Phelon, who had been widowed in 1864 when his first wife, Loraine Sheldon Phelon, passed away.

MRS ELLEN PHELON
Mrs Ellen Phelon, widow of Benjamin Phelon, died early Saturday morning at New Haven, aged 74 years. She was formerly a resident of West Suffield where she lived until the death of her husband several years ago. She was born in Dayton, O., and besides her son Anson Phelps [Phelon], with whom she lived, she leaves a daughter [granddaughter], Mrs. Grace Payne, also of New Haven. The body will be taken to West Suffield this morning for burial and a service will be held shortly after arrival of the 11:17 train.
