Another Death notice from, The Democrat, Caruthersville, Missouri, April 24, 1900 pg. 3
"Died: Rev. John Owen was born October 14, 1842, and died at the Hazel House, Caruthersville, April 22, 1900, 57 years, 6 months and 8 days old. Bro. Owen has for years been a local preacher in the M. E. church, south, on the Grand Prairie circuit. Some eight weeks ago he moved here from Nesbit, Mo., and has for some time run the Hazel house as a hotel and boarding house. He died Sunday evening at 1:10 p.m., after a sickness of five days. Brother Owen was married three times, first to North Carolina Cole, with whom he had eleven children, seven of whom still are alive. She died February 20, 1897. His second wife, Minnie Scranton, died October 15, 1898, and April 4, 1899, he married Susie Bailey who survives him. Bro. Owen's body was taken to Grand Prairie circuit for burial. He died as he lived a servant of God."
