He was born January 30, 1927 in Nelson County to the late Peter and Cora Elizabeth Beverly.
He was also preceded by his wife, Alice Mae Godfrey Beverly; a daughter, Gloria Beverly; a son, Norman Bruce Beverly; three brothers; four sisters; and four grandchildren.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, was a former car knocker for the C&O Railroad, was a retired foreman for Adams Construction Company, a member and senior Deacon of Jackson Memorial Church and founded and was a member of Straight Street.
He is survived by two daughters, Susie (Thomas) West, Alice Nadine (Johnny) Jones; seven sons, Paul David (Ellen Lucille) Beverly, Jr., John (Carolyn) Beverly, Melvin Monroe Beverly, Frank Eugene Beverly, Curtis Jeffry Beverly, Michael (Loren) Beverly and Claude Beverly; four sisters, Evelyn Banks, Ethel Hall, Ruth Bailey and Ernestine Carter.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 28, 2020 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with Elder Leon Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with military honors being conducted at the graveside by the Curtis A. Smith, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1033.
