Weir was a US Army Veteran. He worked for RCA after the Army and then was a Union Carpenter for over 20 years. He then worked for Indiana University Memorial Union, first as a custodian and then as the bowling alley mechanic, working for IU Union Hall for over 20 years before retiring in 2002.
Weir was a member of the Eastview Nazarene Church in Bloomington and the Moose Lodge #1081. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed western movies, especially John Wayne, playing billiards at the Moose Lodge, going to auctions and flea markets, woodworking, and tinkering around on his boat motors and his antique motorcycle. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Weir is survived by his children, Allen L. (Kelly) Hall of Bloomfield, Karen L. Hillenberg of Bedford, Alison R. (Henry) Street of Lexington, S.C.; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; his life partner, Susie Chitwood of Bloomington; and his sister, Norma Cox of Bloomington.
