Lake Wales - Jeanne A. Jahna of Lake Wales passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Winter Haven Hospital due to complications of a stroke. She was born in Wilmington, NC on March 13, 1928 to James (Big Jim) Ellison Allen and Gracie Culpepper Allen. She married Emil R. Jahna, Jr. (D.1996) in 1950, first living in the Hesperidies area then moving to Lake of the Hills, where she spent most of her adult life, raising her family. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert D. Jahna (D.1965) and Jesse Redwin Barden (D.2011) and a brother, Jimmy Allen (D.1950). She is survived by her children, Emil Richard Jahna, III (Marilyn), Becky Jahna Johnson, Jimbo Jahna (Susan) and Gretchen Jahna; two sisters, Marianne Haynes of Columbia, SC and Bobbie Heller of Sumter, SC; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and the sea side. She loved her gardening, taking great pride in her rose garden. She was often called Granny Greenthumbs by her young grandchildren. She enjoyed travel, especially to those places near or on the water. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the memorial service at 11:00 am Monday, June 23, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Wales with Rev. Chad Reynolds officiating. Flowers may be sent or for those who wish, donations may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church (16 North 3rd Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853) or Circle of Friends (105 East Stuart Avenue, Lake Wales, FL 33853).
