Susan was the daughter of William S. Crouse and Jane Fender. She first married Richard C. Edwards Jan. 31, 1858 in Ashe Co., NC. They had 7 children together before Richard passed away in 1874. The only two children who are not on FAG are Elias Andrew b. Apr. 7, 1861 in Sparta. It is believed that the A.E. Edwards that died May 1882 in Hamburg, IA was the son of Susan and Richard. The other unfound child was Mollie Clementine b. in 1872 in Sparta. She was found with her mother and step father in the 1880 census, but not found after that time.
Susan then married Preston Robert Cox b. May 1856 NC and had two children with him Charles Glenn and Carrie Cleo. Preston and Susan married March 11, 1877 in Alleghany Co., NC. By the time the 1900 census was taken the family had moved to Plum Creek, NE. In 1910 Susan and Preston were still living in Plum Creek and Tilden Toliver, his wife and son were living with them. Tilden would have been a relative to Susan and Richard since there were Edward's families on Susan's side as well and several generations back Tolivers married into the Edwards line. Susan's grandmother was Sarah Sallie Edwards and Richard Edwards Jr.'s gr. grandfather was David Edward's Sr. father of Sarah Sallie.
Susan may be buried in Butler Co. or Sioux Co. Her death happened in Morrill Co. which is next to Sioux Co. where Preston was living with his son Charlie in 1930.
