Obituary for E. Irving Camp, Jr.

E. Irving Camp, Jr., 97, of Brooks passed away at his residence on February 12, 2019. He was born in Riverdale, GA on March 12, 1921 to the late Helen and Irving Camp, Sr.

Mr. Camp was a retired deputy sheriff for Clayton County. He was a deacon and long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church and a member of Riverdale Masonic Lodge. Mr. Camp, along with his first wife, the late Frances Wood Camp, owned and operated Camp’s Grocery in Riverdale.

Mr. Camp was preceded in death in November, 2004 by his first wife, Frances Wood Camp and his parents.

He is survived by his second wife, Shirley Biles Camp; his daughters, Betty N. Jones, M. Jackie Stowe (Royce), Ruth C. Nash (Lee) and Dianna Ballard; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; his brother, Carlos Camp; and his sister, Clara Camp Beatenbough.

His funeral service will be at 2:30 PM on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Fairview Baptist Church, 583 Fairview Road, Brooks, GA, with Rev. Casey Harp officiating. Burial will follow at Crouch Cemetery, Flat Shoals Road, Gay, GA. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests donations in memory of Mr. Camp to Crouch Cemetery Fund, Gay, GA.
