Elizabeth Jane "Eliza" Sappenfield was the daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth (Barksdale) Sappenfield. Her mother died on Feb 10, 1880, when Elizabeth was only 11 years old. She went to live with her grandparents William H. and Catherine Barksdale. She lived with them until her untimely death, at the age of 14; and she was buried next to her Grandparents in the Old Breedlove Cemetery.
