Barbara L. (Troutman) Powell, 74, of Plum Borough, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 11, 2019, in Autumn Ridge Personal Living, Monroeville. She was born June 20, 1944, in New Kensington, a beloved daughter of Esther (Palmer) Troutman and the late Adam K. Troutman. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her family was most important to her. Prior to retirement, she was employed by the State Department as a secretary. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana L. Klingensmith. Barbara will be dearly missed by her loving family and is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Douglas M. Powell; mother, Esther; sisters, Shirley Bigenhoe, Laura Girardi (Jim) and Audrey Sleigh (John); brother, Adam Troutman Jr. (Deborah); and many nieces and nephews. Barbara was the very proud and loving grandmother of Paul D. Kennedy, whom she treasured.
Family and friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Funeral and committal services for Barbara will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, immediately following visitation. Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
