David Winfield Abee, 80, of Kingsport, passed away at home on Saturday (February 9, 2019) following a brief illness.
David was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church. He graduated from NC State with a degree in chemical engineering, and worked in the Research Department of Eastman Kodak, retiring in 1994.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Abee & Alberta Abee Barker of Rutherford College, NC.
Surviving family members are his wife of 57 years, Sue Harkleroad Abee; their children, Mark Winfield Abee and Sharon Lisenby (Kent) and their sons, Austin and Carson; three sisters, Arlene Baker (Howard), JoAnn Hallyburton, and Nancy Jackson; nieces and nephews, Alice, Rick, Joy, Rex, and Eddie who loved him dearly; and his in-laws, Ruth Harkleroad, Charlie & Fay Weaver, Paulette Dean, and Burleigh Pearson and their children.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday (February 12, 2019) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church (4405 Orebank Road Kingsport, TN 37664). A Celebration of Life Service will follow with Pastor Sam Ward officiating.
Committal services will be held following the funeral service on Tuesday (February 12, 2019) at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of the Apostles. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
